What’s being going on recently (and not so recently) in the world of celebrity weddings?  Green Glass Photography writer Frankie has the latest information on who, what, where (wear?) and how much…

We all love a good paw through a celebrity magazine every now and then, and what can be better then a celeb mag with a bit of celebrity wedding gossip!  It can be a great way of seeing what’s trending, and lusting over those beautiful dresses that may be just a tiny bit outside of our budgets!

In this months article, lets take a little stroll through all things celeb, the insane to the low key, and how they compare to us mere mortals.

Top celebrity wedding of 2017

Pippa Middleton is set to marry head fund manager James Matthews in a surprisingly small ceremony in their local church next month, with the wedding reception being held in her parents back garden with a marquee. I say backgarden…. They do own a £6 million manor in Berkshire so I can only imagine that it will still be something rather fancy and not a few cocktail sausages and plastic cups of beer!

The dress has been kept under wraps with lots of speculation about the designer, however Giles Deacon was pictured leaving her home at the end of last year, I say no more… What style do you think she should go for?  Personally if I had a derrière like hers it would have to be a fishtail number surely?

Celebrity Weddings: Hen Party

If you have been wondering what you can do for your Hen Party, why not go for something sporty like Pippa and head off on a ski weekend. She opted for the beautiful Meribel in France. It’s a really quiet and quaint location. If you fancy something a bit more lively you could head to Tiegnes or Val d’isere, which as well as great skiing has a good party atmosphere too.

If sport isn’t your thing, then maybe your hen party style matches Poppy Delevingne, who took hen dos to a whole new level, purely because of the number of celebrations she had.  Four, to be exact.  They included a dinner party at The Ivy, a blonde-themed do at the Groucho, a Chanel tea party for her nearest and dearest and a weekend-long trip to Coachella.  Each celebration was captured via Instagram, and each seemed ridiculously fun.  Sign me up!

Ahead of her wedding to Kanye West, Kim Kardashian had 2 hen do’s.

The first was in Beverly Hills, exactly two weeks before her big day. The second was spent in Paris the night before her actual wedding. Along with her nearest and dearest friends she dined in luxury at the Salon Chinois inside the ultra glam Hotel Costes. After their luxurious meal, they headed to some of Paris’ most iconic landmarks. When in Paris, after all…

How does this compare to the non celeb? Well I, like Kim, also headed to Paris… However I opted for tacky mini mouse ears (complete with a veil) and headed to Disney Paris instead, with burgers and a shake for my luxury meal.

Celebrity Weddings: Gifts

These days Wedding Lists seem to have been replaced with the ever-useful ask of a contribution to a couples honeymoon. However in the celeb world, gifts are still very much a thing…

When Kate Moss got hitched she asked for an array of gifts including a £6,600 silk rug, £5,000 cutlery service, and a £4,600 mirror. The strangest request had to be 14 crystal ashtrays from high-end London retailer Talisman, costing £240 each!

Or how about a £500 set of salt and pepper shakers? That was one of the must haves for Heidi and Spencer Pratt.

Celebrity Weddings: The Dress

For some, one wedding dress is more then enough.. Not if you’re Kim Kardashian.

She had 2 custom made dresses which were, quite simply, stunning!

For the vows she donned a couture Givenchy gown, that featured long lace sleeves, a mermaid silhouette, illusion cutouts at the waist, and a cathedral-length veil. The second was a more ‘simple’ number designed by Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing. How much I hear you ask? Just over half a million for both!

If you don’t want to fork out a load for your wedding dress how about getting one of your celeb designer friends to design it for you instead.. oh wait.. Well if you are Eva Longoria you are in luck. The beautiful bride got her best gal pal Victoria Beckham to design her a gorgeous, yet quite simple silk crepe gown, with 2 other dresses for the rest of the day!

Celebrity Weddings: Wedding Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner!

Not all celebs opt for the complete ‘out-there’ options. Mary J Blige took it back to basics with barbecued chicken, crab, red rice and salad. The cake was from a local New York bakery.

Reese Witherspoon opted for a rather elegant affair, but for me the desert was certainly the best part – a separate cake table along with a s’mores lounge – a whole lounge just for eating s’mores!

Back in 1981 when Prince Charles and Princess Diana married, they had just 27 different cakes at their wedding.   The official wedding cake, however, took more than 14 weeks to make.  You seriously have to love cake!

Bring it forward 30 years to the wedding of Kate and Wills and it seems the cake game is still strong.  Their royal wedding cake was a multi-tiered fruitcake designed by prestigious British baker Fiona Cairns.  The eight-tiered cake was decorated with white icing and cream, along with 900 delicate sugar flowers — boasting 17 different types of blooms and foliage, no less.

But really, celebs (and the royals) are just like us.  Alongside the fancy cake with 900 flowers, Prince William had requested a rather scrummy looking chocolate McVities biscuit cake.  Cup of tea anyone?

When looking through all the Celeb weddings I wondered if anyone may have got married on the same day as I did, and found that the amazing Alicia Keys jetted off to Corsica to get married to her hubby back on July 31, 2010, whilst I was swanning around a castle. What I loved most when reading about her nuptials was that it seems we also have the same choice in flowers as we both opted for a purple calla lily bouquet.

One thing is certain, £500 salt and peppper shakers or not, everyone should feel like a celebrity on their wedding day.
